no such thing as competition

You know when you meet someone for the first time, and you just like them right away? That's one of my favourite things to have happen, and, lucky for me, it happened today!

I went to Waterloo this afternoon to hang out with Hilary, who I've exchanged emails with but never met in person until today. We had a great few hours together, chatting about work and life. She was funny, kind, and great to hang out with. And even though she insisted that she's as chatty as I am, I didn't have the heart to tell her that I was holding back and I could chat her under the table any day of the week. ;)

And she's a photographer. She's a photographer roughly in my geographical market. She's a photographer roughly in my geographical market who shoots families and children, just like I do. Thankfully, she's all those things and also someone who sees other photographers just like I do: as pre-qualified-interest-sharing friends and not as competition.

Hilary launched One for the Wall Photography (how awesome is that business name anyway?) this past winter and is already busy tackling her first Spring shooting season as a professional photographer. Hilary's work is Fantastic (with a capital 'F'), and I would never have guessed that she's just begun her career in professional photography. Can you imagine where she's going to be in a few years? I'm looking forward to seeing it!

So go on over, and follow her blog!

And since it's become my habit to append a completely unrelated photo to each of my posts, I leave you with a series of outtakes entitled "Two Little Balls of Sunshine Loving on Each Other"

Cute, huh?

Great that you have found a new friend who shares your love of photography!

Love the processing on these already adorable photos...share?!

Hey Kristin - no secret processing - shot to the right, added tons of blacks, threw on an 'S' curve, made it a pinch warmer than it ought to be, and you're there! Just raw processing on those!
