How My Day Went Today

Bobby called me out on not posting, so here goes. I've actually done about six drafts of posts since New Year's Day, but I was in such a funk, they kept sounding really... funky? (and not in a good way)

Then last night I got Bobby's blog police comment, and I started writing a post about, among other things, how I felt 2009 was going to be so much better than 2008, when a lot of not-so-good things happened. And, since I missed the NYE Resolutions Posting Bonanza of the blogiverse, I also included that my only resolution is to not use drive-thrus because they're not very environmentally friendly.

I was tired, so I didn't post it because I didn't think my proofreading was probably up to par. I was planning to post my "2009 will be so good" post after I finished work at my day job today.

Then today I found out that I only have two more weeks of work left. I'm redundant. (I do repeat myself a lot). However, since Bobby asked for this post, and Bobby is Down on the Downers, I'm going to list 10 great things about losing my job. I haven't thought of them all yet, so I anticipate some lame ones near the end.

1. I'll get to spend a lot of time with my kids.
2. I guess this makes me a full time photographer?
3. I only have to shovel the driveway every other day to take Bria to school.
4. It should be easier to avoid drive-thrus if I have to sell my car.
5. I can go on the "Recession Diet" and hopefully lose a lot of weight.
6. I might find a job I don't actually suck at. (cause to be totally honest, I'm not exactly winning any receptionist/assistant awards here)
7. Maybe I can put the time into photography that I need to in order to make it work as a full-time career.
8. Sure does take pretty much all of the "Cons" off of the "Pros and Cons of Going Back to School Full Time" chart.
9. Now I don't have to replace the work pants I ripped last week.
10. Afternoon naps. Need I say more?

Here's a rainbow picture to make this post seem even more happy:
Click to make the rainbow grow!

I guess that's kind of sad looking as far as rainbow pictures go. Oh well... you take what you can get.

Feel free to let me know some more reasons why it's great not having a job! Seriously... the only way I know to deal with stuff is to make light of it a bit, so feel free to join in. I guess that probably makes me a flake or something, but whatever... at least I'm generally happy flake.

Anyway, I'm going to go hang with my kids now!

P.S. I always get in trouble for not telling people things and I didn't want to have to call all the people I should and tell them, so that's why I blogged about it. I guess anybody who doesn't like me enough to follow my blog didn't need to know... :P

First, I love the picture of the rainbow!! Very pretty!!

Second, I'm so sorry you lost your job. That sucks! Believe me, I know! Maybe this was just the kick in the pants you needed to get yourself to school full-time!?!?! Clearly, I can't be of much use to you financially but otherwise let me know if there is anything I can do. I host a mean pity party!! ;-P

I love your list!!!! You make some very good points. I know you are destined for bigger and better things. Hey - Jamie always wanted to start his own business but never did it until he lost his job! Hopefully it will work out for both of you. I love you and will drive you around when you have to sell your car. :)

Manda,
I am sorry to hear, but I do have one to add to your list..with no job to go to, you don't really have to worry about to wear! I've come to realise the precious gift that is not caring about what you look like because the only people who will see you are under 3 feet tall! (I am not sure if the same is true of people who work with midgets though...)
Love you! If you need anything, let me know

You're an awesome photographer and a really great writer - you're wasted being a receptionist. You should work for a newspaper and go to school!

I agree. You're selling yourself short. You are destined for better things then a receptionist. Believe that this to shall pass... and when it does, you'll be on top! Just believe... and go for it!
